IT TAKES A VILLAGE! This quaint village often referred to as The Brigadoon of Virginia has all the wonderful ingredients that one can find charming in a village of caring; involved community residents. This perfect gem is perched on a small hill overlooking the park. What does overlooking the park entail? The group of eight families who have this privileged location in the town get a birds-eye view of whatever the monthly activities the town plans for the lovely green with gazebo and state of the art playground, that is the center of our historic town. The activities include fourth of July picnic with moon bounce; local live music; catered dinner and a parade to include the children's best buggy contest. Other activities of note are the Homes Tours quarterly; the Wine Festival; Clifton Day (to include crafters from near and far); Christmas caroling; and our Antique Car Show.
The town boasts a beautiful history. It is like many historic towns throughout the country, yet unique to the Washington area, that have been so well preserved and engendered with a community that takes pride in careful preservation of homes and landscape. The home itself is surrounded by old boxwoods and various mature hardwood trees. The first layer of yard has been covered with cobblestone pavers culminating in a pond. Stairs go up to a second level of grass, surrounded by trees, which can be filled in to one's taste. A great deal of love has been poured into the yard and it is acclaimed as the one of the most comfortable for entertaining within the town.
The interior is comfortable with a kitchen to include a unique flavor of Provence. The master suite has natural pine flooring that has recently been installed in both the bedroom and ensuite dressing room/bathroom. The decorating has kept the wonderful feel of a hundred year old home, but has been updated with care and precision of craftsmanship.
The carriage house is spacious and the upstairs is currently being built out by the owners; Possibly an office; playroom; or studio. At this time there could be choices as to how it is completed by a prospective buyer. The in-town location of the home is coveted by those that love the feeling that the town of Clifton elicits to visitors. Enjoy the view from the rockers on the front porch and yet is one of the quietest locations in town. There are so many nice possibilities of outdoor seating, for one or many, surrounding the home. Its unique flavor is attributed to the love the current owners endowed to it. The Phyllis Waters House, named after the first woman mayor of the town, awaits even more charm that new owners could bestow upon it.
